This was a interesting project where we were asked to remove the old existing patio and the build a new patio lower into the ground to give a better eye view of the large gardens and lawn area as well as being sheltered from the open farmland surrounding the property. Once the old patio was removed we then excavated the whole area ,lowering it by approximately half a meter and extending the area to incorporate an existing well as a feature into the new steps to be built . A new footing was dug around three sides of the patio and concrete poured. Next a small wall is built on the footings including the new steps around the existing well. Once the walls were finished including the small brick wall creating an edge to the lawn ,the new patio slabs are laid. Stone markets Indian sandstone in 5 size project packs,colour Sahara was chosen. Finally to complete the project,the patio is pointed using a buff coloured resin mortar to complement the colours of the slabs and provide a hardy finish against the winter conditions the pointing will be exposed to in our British winter.
