This stunning country property had recently carried out a fitting of a large kitchen and large new orangery to complement this new area.
At the same time as the work on the orangery was carried out the patio area that had been lost to the orangery required extending. New retaining walls were built by a local builder to extend the patio area.
The new patio area now required finishing to the customers requirements. The total area including patio area and two sets of steps leading to the lower lawned area covered approximately 150 square meters. Due to the large area and wanting to create a staggered planting areas at the edges of the patio , Digby stones regale porcelain slabs were chosen in a three size pattern 800-800,600-600 and 800-400 sizes in desert sand colour. These were a stunning slab very resistant to discolouration due to the weather.
Once the levels were set up and the sub base completed the slabs were laid on a full mortar bed and due to the hardness of the slabs a cement slurry needed to be applied to the backs to create a firm bond to the mortar. Due to the constant sizing of the slabs we used 10 mm spacers to keep the joints uniform. Two sets of existing steps and a new step in front of the new orangery doors were also paved.
Once the completion of laying the patio had been completed the joints were pointed using a buff resin mortar to complement a stunning patio at a stunning property.
A resin bond path and steps along with cleaning and sealing off the existing driveway were also carried out to complete the project.
