This new property recently built in Longhope Gloucestershire was no win need of a new water pipe being laid from the house to the edge of the road at the lower side of the property along with a new foul waste pipe to the same point.
The water pipe consisted of a 70 mtr trench being excavated at an average depth of 900mm from the house to the nearest point for connection by Severn Trent at a later date. The pipe when laid was cover with sand for protection then backfilled in layers, compacted with our trench wicker . Approximately 300mm above the pipe a water below marker tape was placed to warn anyone excavating the area at a later date.
The new foul pipe consisted of a 90 mtr run of pipe being laid from the rear of the house to the connection point in the road at the lower side of the property. This involved excavating a trench and laying a 100 mm pipe with various connection points around the house via a series of inspection chambers. Due to the large amount of fall from the property to the new connection point in the road a series of back drop manholes were installed to overcome this. The pipe work is laid on and covered with a pea gravel before being backfilled in layers incorporating a sewer pipe below marker tape above the pipe work. The final part of the work involved connecting onto the main sewer pipe in the road and installing the boundary inspection chamber. This final part of the work is inspected by Severn Trent before being adopted by them. The property now has access to water and mains sewer .
