This project involved rebuilding the old pond which had become silted up , diverting the original water course under the original garden and then landscaping the area on completion . The first stage was to divert the existing water course under the existing garden by means of a large diameter pipe and back into its original course. Silting is a common problem where existing water runs through bringing with it the silt in heavy rain. The second stage involved removing the old silt from the existing pond ,then reshaping the new bond before lining the pond with underlay to protect the new butyl liner . Once this was completed the pond was slowly filled from existing springs to stretch the liner in to place and allow the final level to be set. Any overflow was then taken out through a new waterfall under the newly constructed footbridge . Finally the surrounding area was seeded or turfed to complete the project set in a stunning location .
