marshals grassguard in worcester a sustainable alternative to blockpaving

This project was to create an off-road parking space and a new drop kerb entrance in Worcester for one car in a street where parking was at a premium . The customer wanted to to create the new parking area with a sustainable alternative to block paving or Tarmac that would not spoil the look of this Victorian semi Detached home. The choice was to use marshals grassguard grids to create the parking area and to use a diamond printed clay Pavior from a local salvage yard to create a new path all in keeping with the property. The parking area was excavated to a depth of 275mm approximately before a layer of crushed stone/soil mix was compacted to give a sub base to the parking area. Next a layer of approximately 25mm of sharpe sand was compacted and levelled to the correct falls before laying marshals grassguard grids. These were then filled with a loamy soil and seeded with a tough ryegrass that as it grows, binds the the grids and base materials together to progressively improve structural strength and load bearing to the new parking area . The customer was delighted with the end result.
