This property originally shared a septic tank with property next door which was due to be replaced. The cost of replacing the septic tank and a connection to the main sewer in the rd were very similar but long term mains sewer connection provided less maintenance and a better selling point in the future.
The connection to the main sewer involved a connection to an existing stub pipe in the inspection chamber in the road to taking new pipe work to the existing chamber in the driveway. Due to the chamber being in the far side of the road from the property, three way traffic lights were needed to allow the connection and pipe work to be laid across the road and into the driveway. When this had been completed and the road reinstated the traffic lights were removed and the remaining pipe work completed from the boundary inspection chamber to the existing inspection chamber at the house and the old connection to the septic tank disconnected.
