This project involved replacing a large patio, widening a path and building a new wall and steps and refurbishment of the large gravel driveway.
The patio which covered an area of approximately 185 sq mtrs consisted of an old decking area and a large slabbed area that needed replacing with one new area. First the old decking and slabs were removed and the area excavated followed by a new sub base layer compacted. Next the Indian sandstone slabs were laid on a mortar bed along with four new reassessed inspection covers . Once all the slabs had been laid the patio was pointed using a resin buff mortar.
Along with the patio we widened the path to the rear door and to the patio itself. This involved removing the existing retaining wall , widening the path by approximately a metre then biulding a new wall and steps and replacing the path with matching slabs to the new patio.
The final part of the project involved replacing the old gravel driveway. First the old surface was removed, then the entrance was paved to allow a safe area to exit the driveway on to the busy road. Next the remaining driveway is edged with a charcoal pavior on concrete And then new Forest of Dean chippings are spread over the driveway to complete the project.
