This project carried out at a large country house in Hereford involved removing the old gravel surface on a area approximately 350sq metres in size that had become worn and unsightly. Once the old contaminated surface had been removed back to the original sub base which was inturn reshaped and compacted to provide a solid base for the final surface . Due to the size of the area ,20mm sized forest of dean chippings were used to aid drainage and fit in with the surrounding stonework. The approach drive leading from the electric entrance gates to the parking area measured over 220 metres in length and once again the old gravel surface was removed and the sub base compacted . A brindle Pavior was used to edge one side of the drive that would match in with the Reds and Browns of the chippings and the black finish of the Tarmac surface, while the other side was edged by an existing wall. The finishing surface was then added ,a 10mm hot rolled asphalt machine laid to provide a smooth clean finish that will last for years.
